well im on a p3 733 mhz 128 ram comp and it runs ok but maybe just a little bit higher than this will make it run without spending loads of cash. my comp costed me 150$ 2 years ago so nowadays it should be hella cheaper

about $400 to $800 will get you a nice one but if you have around $1500
go to newegg.com and buy parts there and put it together your self

heres a real nice custom sight
cyberpowersystem.com

there prolly one of the cheapest

ok here a really nice comp config for source (moniter not included)
go to http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/custom/cfga64.asp?v=d

get whatever case u want, make sure its not that expensive...

u dont need a power supply
u dont need lights
get an athloon64 3000+
get the asus 754 pin mother borad
512 mg of corsair high peformance ram with heat spreader
80 gig harddrive 7200 rpm ata 1000
no rain
Nvidia Geforce fx 6800 gt (with doom 3 :) )
pick out the free game u want
slelect yes for farcry
get the 16x dvd rom drive
the cheapest cd burner (the one on top)
no moniter (hope u have agood one)
leave the sound where it is

keep everything else where it is (except windows if u need to get it, iam not sure if u need xp for hl2/cs:s)

that will be one really kick ass system for about 1k plus far cry and doom 3, the top games of today (minus CS:S beta)

hope this helps and u enjoy ur gamming!

now all i got to do is get a new comp, i roughly have what u got lol but i plays source alright

I'll prolly only be playing 1.6 on it so it should be alright thnx alot.

I was also wondering about desert combat, could i play dc on that comp? thnx

do u mean ull only play 1.6 on ur current comp or the new one

no u probably wouldnt be able to play desert combat with ur current one. with the config i gave above u can play anything... if u want to go cheap though get an athlon xp procesor, and a 9800 pro or a 9600 xt instead of the 6800 gt. if u have the money and really want to play all these new games, id suggest u get dsl and a new comp.

If you just need a cheap new PC go to Dell and see if they have any sales. If you want to make sure you get exactly what you want build it yourself. Purely for extreme low price though Dell's liquidations and extra stock clearance things are the best, depending on the hardware.

I cant play any games on my current comp short of Age of Empires LOL.
Anywayz I will prolly play 1.6 and Dc and diablo and some other stuff on my NEW comp. So will Battle Feild run well on that comp that you told me?
Thanx

dell's are not good for gaming, only the XPS series can handle them

now, just try www.abspc.com and see if you can afford anything there, if not, just buy your own parts off newegg.com

My adivce:

AMD Athlon64 3200+ (or higher)
512mb pc2700 ram (or better/faster)
ASUS K8N E-Deluxe (or something with an nforce3 250GB)
ATi Radeon 9800pro (or faster)
<insert nice case with big psu here>
<fans>
60GB hdd
<opticals>

and whatever else you need, that right there is about $1000, and it will play CS:S , DC, HL2, D3 etc...

alien ware!!!!!!

Alienware is freakin expensive and only good if you're super lazy and don't want to bother to build a PC. Like me. -Smirks and watches as the respect for him goes down the drain- In either case. Settle for an AMD, though don't get the latest 64 bit chip. It needs a little bit more time to perfect the overall design. It's an excellent chip, just has a few hitches because of the fact that they've fit so many transisters at once into one little chip that sometimes they cause a bit of an interference on one another. Of course. That will get worked out soon, and then, 64 will really take off and kill all the poor pentium users.

Thermal gel is plug and screw?Hahaha thermal gel is computer freak. It certainly doesnt take a beast of a computer to run CS smoothly. Although at this stage i recommend you start saving up for a computer that runs Counter Strike Source and half life 2

yeah the only thing i need from there is that Radeon 9800 pro. Ive got a Geforce FX 5200, runs pretty damn good but i would like a faster one with the next generation of games coming out. Oh yeah, when Source comes out, will most of the CS servers change to support source instead? Or will there still be plenty of original CS players?
