Futuremark Games Studio announced earlier today new details for their "Moonrise" content pack coming soon to Shattered Horizon.

The screenshots released today show hints of exotic new locations: an MMC cargo ship lured into a trap by the ISA, a huge mass driver installation, the broken remains of a luxury lunar hotel and fragments of what was a massive communications dish on the Moon.

The Moonrise pack will be free to all current owners of Shattered Horizon and will come packed with four new maps. These four new maps take place around the shattered Moon and take "the fight deeper into space and (show) a new side to the conflict."

There is no current release date set for Moonrise, but the date should not be far off.

Electronic Arts and BioWare announced that Dragon Age: Origins has reached "triple platinum status." With sales now in excess of 3.2 million units and over 30 "Best of 2009" awards under its belt, the latest franchise from BioWare is off to a rather smashing start.
"This is a tremendous start for the Dragon Age franchise and we are extremely pleased with the great reception the game has already received from critics and fans worldwide," said Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder, BioWare and Group General Manager of the RPG/MMO Group of EA. "Our team is dedicated to crafting high quality, engaging new adventures and stories in the world of Ferelden for our fans!"

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening, BioWare's next installment in the Dragon Age lore, occurs following the events of Dragon Age: Origins. Players assume the role of a Grey Warden Commander entrusted with rebuilding the order of Grey Wardens and tasked to uncover the mystery of how the darkspawn survive after the slaying of the Archdemon. How players choose to rebuild their order, resolve the conflict with the mysterious "Architect," and determine the fate of the darkspawn are just some of the many intriguing moral choices that will shape each player's heroic journey. Players will be able to import their character from Dragon Age: Origins or start out as a new Grey Warden from the neighboring land of Orlais.

Dragon Age: Origins received "Best of 2009" awards from a wide range of respected media outlets around the world, including USAToday.com, CNN.com, MSNBC.com, The Associated Press, Game Informer, GameSpot, IGN, and many more. The game has also inspired a tremendous response from gamers as BioWare's online community skyrocketed to more than 5 million registered users, helping to make DragonAge.com the most visited site in EA's network in 2009, including EA.com.
Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening is slated for release on March 16.

Beginning tomorrow, February 9, all owners of Mass Effect 2 will have access to even more free downloadable content from BioWare. If you have access to the in-game Cerberus Network, gamers will be able to download the Cerberus Assault Armor.

Cerberus assault armor is designed for shock troops, who are expected to turn the tide of battle against creatures or forces that would decimate normal soldiers. The troops demanded three things in its design: shields, armor thick enough to last against a superior foe, and a rechargeable pack to extend a heavy weapon power cell. The only drawback of the armor is its weight, which the troops carry as a point of pride. They have a saying: "Out of shape going in, in shape coming out."

* Increases heavy weapon ammo capacity by +10%
* Increases shields by +10%
* Increases health by +10%
Look for the DLC later on tomorrow through the in-game Cerberus Network.

The ESRB rating for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 indicates that during the single player portion of the title, a sequence set during World War II will take place. Not only that, but there's a lovely power drill that can be used as a weapon.
In single-player mode, players conduct missions on an unnamed Japanese island during World War II and then move into the modern day through jungles, deserts, and snowy terrain. The firefights contain realistic gunfire, loud explosions, cries of pain; large sprays of blood come out of injured characters during the fast-paced combat. There are also close-up depictions of knife-stabbing (flesh-impact sounds) and melee attacks with a power drill.
Bad Company 2 is slated to be released on March 2 in North America.

Also, here's a quick hit of a not so subliminal message: Rent a Bad Company 2 server today and save 15% off of the regular price! There is also a chance you could win an Intel i7-920 CPU!

  • Improved SurvivorBot AI in cases where the bots refused to shoot through their teammates and became non-responsive
  • Fixed issue with witch sometimes taking on uncommon common properties

Developer Lukewarm Media has announced their plans to bring dinosaurs to life once more using the DirectX 11 powered Unigine. Their title, Primal Carnage, features co-op based gameplay that pits player controlled humans against player controlled dinosaurs in an all out battle for supremacy.

Set in the aftermath of a military experiment gone awry, Primal Rage pits five classes of mercenaries against five species of dinosaurs in competitive and co-op modes.

'Survival' sees up to five mercenaries fending off AI dinosaur attacks while riding on a train, boat or the like, completing objectives and facing a boss battle at the end. 'Power Grid' meanwhile is Team Fortress 2-style competitive interspecies point-capturing play. (Shacknews)
The team has stated that they would like to price the game around the $20 mark, but nothing firm has been set yet. A release date and additional details on the game are also not yet known. However, let's not forget the important part here: You can play as a dinosaur.

The highly stylized Rockstar Games title, L.A. Noire, was long since thought as being an exclusive to PlayStation 3. However, according to the March issue of Game Informer and a quick comment by one of the GI staff, it is now known that Noire will also be released on the Xbox 360.

Rockstar Games is known for its ambitious projects, and L.A. Noire proves that the company’s reputation is safe. While the rumblings about the game have been heard for years, our world exclusive cover story is the only place you’ll be able to get concrete information on the gritty crime epic. Over the course of our 10-page feature we look at the game’s astonishing reconstruction of 1947 Los Angeles and learn how the team took on such a massive undertaking. We also talk to the team to see L.A. Noire’s groundbreaking facial-animation system in action, and learn how it might change the way we look at games from now on.
GI writer, Matthew Kato had this to say about the exclusivity.
"It's not a PS3-exclusive. It was at one point, but it's coming out for the PS3 and 360."
We'll have more on L.A. Noire soon.

The demo for the highly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive, Heavy Rain, isn't technically set to be released until February 11. However, there is an ARG (alternate reality game) that has popped up that will grant you early access to the demo through the PlayStation Network. Kotaku breaks down how to get immediate access to the game.

First off, be sure to head on over to Precinct 52, the ARG website that Sony has just launched for the game. From there, it's merely a matter of following the clues.
  • Short cigarette (117b)
  • Origami bird
  • Coffee shop C (it says "diner")
  • 117h (tyre tracks).
Be care about which coffee shop you pick as there are several, and you must submit the correct one to get the code. Likewise, the writing on the "tyre tracks" is difficult to read.
There you have it, you should be given access to the demo shortly after solving the clues.

Microsoft has just announced that all Xbox Live support for the original Xbox will be discontinued on April 15, 2010. This also means that Xbox Live support will also end for Xbox 1 titles that can be played on the Xbox 360. Yes, this means that both Halo and Halo 2 will no longer be playable online. Keep in mind that Halo 2 is still one of the most played online titles across any Xbox platform and has, in fact, held the #1 position for a number of years as the most played online original Xbox title.
I want to start by saying this isn't a decision we made lightly, but after careful consideration, it is clear this will provide the greatest benefit to the Xbox LIVE community.

Seven years ago we laid out our vision for the connected console when we launched Xbox LIVE. We believed then that the power of the Internet to connect people would revolutionize living room entertainment. It started with amazing multiplayer games, and we've since seen that bet pay off again and again with the launches of Xbox 360, Marketplace, Netflix and powerful social features like Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm. None of this would have been possible without the success of LIVE as a multiplayer gaming network.

There's no greater example of the power of the Xbox LIVE community than the "Halo" franchise. "Halo 2" has had an amazing run on LIVE, with a dedicated community more than five years after launch and well into the next generation of consoles. It has fundamentally changed the way we play video games. And while it's difficult to see that run come to an end, the "Halo" franchise continues to act as the benchmark for multiplayer gaming in this generation, with "Halo 3," "Halo 3: ODST" and soon "Halo: Reach" on Xbox 360.
While future plans for Xbox Live haven't been announced, discontinuing support for old Xbox titles opens up the doors to larger friends' lists on Xbox 360 Live. It was often stated that the only reason there is a 100 person limit on Live was to keep old Xbox titles supported that had a hard coded limit on friends.
